What a blast. As someone said, supercharged gokarts with suspension. A couple of really great races, even with me having some problems (one a bump, one self-induced as a reacted poorly to cars duelling ahead of me). Congrats to the winners (Joe and Jason) and a shout out to Bill Behm for some great racing in the last couple of laps in the second race.

I agree, what a blast. Yeah, my first race sucked, as I spent more than half of it alone. But the second race made up for it. I was able to stay with the group, and then passed Gilles (who went wide) and Matthew (who had an off). It didn't take long for Gilles to catch back up with me, and since I was beginning to lose touch with the two guys in front of me, I let him pass easily, hoping he'd draw me back up to them. Jerry got caught on a curb, and I got by. A few laps later Matthew was right on me, and made a nifty pass one me (clean, certainly). For the entire second half of the race, Jerry's getting closer and closer, and I had to drive better than I had done all night just to keep him out of draft range. I barely managed that -- had there been another lap, he surely would have got me. TY Jerry -- that was some tense and fun stuff!
I was a bit surprised that the field was so small, though. Yeah, I know, summer crowds are always smaller, but I think with a mod like this and more folks staying at home due to virus concerns, I should have had a dozen folks trying to put me in 20th position! Hope that's true in a couple of weeks.

Either they are too busy with summer stuff, or they don't realize how fun these types of cars can be. Let's hope for better turnout in the Fall.
I didn't even see a report from Jerry yet. I hope he had fun too. It was a great field of drivers to race with. Someone needs to nudge Tony and get him involved.

I agree with Brette and Aaron. These cars got me out of retirement, so they needed to be fun. I really like this format also. No strategy, just go flat out,and have fun. Had two really good races: With trying to pass Jerry in R1, and trying to hold off Matt in R2. The lap times are incredibly close so odds are you will never be alone. See you all next Tueday. Too much fun to pass up.

Gentlemen all, I'm all in on these cars. They are a blast to race. I had a decent setup and planned to hang on to the car ahead to catch a draft and keep the thing on the track. First race went according to plan and I ended up fourth.
That meant I got to start third in the second race. I planned to use the same strategy. At the start a bunch of guys from behind came blasting past. I was hanging on the back of them hoping to work my way through the field. Unfortunately I made a mistake going into a corner and spun around like a roulette wheel but kept the car intact. By the time I got going I was in last place, fourteen seconds or so from the car ahead. The rest of the race I was making up ground at a snail's pace but ran out of laps.
The times are so tight throughout the field that you can't make a mistake and finish well. I'm pretty sure Tony will be back next race.
