Well, that was deja vu all over again! Pretty much a replay of the last race in these cars. Then I finished fourth in R1 and last in R2 because I screwed up a corner which put me at the end of the pack. Spent lots of hours Monday and Tuesday getting the #20 up to speed for this race and felt I had a good car. RACE 1 Kept it on track and had a good run to fifth place. For most the race someone was on my butt. First Mr. Lalonde, then Mr. Holm, and finally Mr. Brooks who found a way by (nice pass Brette). RACE 2 Started in P2 and felt I had a shot for a better finish than the first race. After a few laps I caught Mr. Holm and was having a good time riding his bumper for four laps. We were running P3 and P4 on lap seven when – wham! - I got punted off track and into the dirt. It took a minute and a half to climb out of the quicksand!!!! Needless to say I was waaaay behind the field and finished last. I really hope this race series doesn't continue this way. Congratulations to all intrepid drivers taking the green flag.

Hah! I love driving these cars, but I certainly don't have the speed. In race 1 I could pull away from Tony for the first two sectors, and he just blew me away in the third, staying close enough to make me nervous. I spun in the last chicane after several laps of this, letting him by and relegating myself to last man still running (my spotter told me the race was over, when there was still 1 to go, and when I pulled off track I got a DNF. Didn't matter in the standings!). Race 2, I added wing, and Gilles passed me on the start to my right, Joe to my left. I just stayed close, and when Joe had a problem braking to avoid the car ahead of him, he re-entered the track right in front of me. I tried to draft him in order to stay close to Tony, which sort of worked out. But they got together a little later and I missed Joe by running through a bunch of green and passed Tony while he was waiting for Joe to regain the position (great gentleman's move, Tony). Passed and was re-passed by folks who had offs, and with a handful of laps left I was racing alone, with Brette nearly half a minute behind me. He must have been doing some crazy laps, because with only one to go I saw I needed to really concentrate. I finished barely a half second in front. But I've got two weeks to figure out how to do better in the next pair of races....

Another fun race, but another disappointing finish. First an apology to Peter Holm, who ran perfect lines leaving zero opportunity to pass, for the bump. I missed the brake point, tried to miss you but didn't. Hope it didn't affect your race too badly. Made exactly the same mistake in R2 in the same corner, fortunately not hitting Jerry in the process, but loosing a bunch of time.

These are fantastic cars and I am going to try them out in rF2 as well! Joe was just too fast and even with a PB in Q, he still left me in the dust.....
Race 1 was fantastic - in the groove and working hard. Joe was just too consistent, so had to content myself with a 2nd. Weird saying that, because I used to dream of getting in the top 5 in ANY race!
For Race 2 was all primed for the running of the "Pumas" with the reverse grid but it all went south on me with a punt on Brette that put us both into the quicksand. My apologies Brette. Got out first and had to wait as my position offtrack was awkward for him and so he took longer getting out. From there, several good laps chasing him but I had lost my groove and he went down the track in chase of Aaron while I just struggled. Picked up a place or two as others suffered greater indignities than me and while I managed to get in a pretty good fast lap or two, it was more for pride than position.
On to next week!

Race 1 was fantastic - in the groove and working hard. Joe was just too consistent, so had to content myself with a 2nd. Weird saying that, because I used to dream of getting in the top 5 in ANY race! *clears throat Look, I know I've been absent and quiet here for a while now (personal things, won't go into it...but I'm here now so let's just move on from that)...but I didn't think I was completely ghosted yet. Surely that's a typo? LOL Onwards to the races. Had fun, the cars are fun to drive and the lap times were very close. No practice made it a challenge to get up to speed in the final hour but I did manage to do so. Race 1, I got lucky. Others fell off and it was just a matter of staying on track and keeping it consistent. Managed to do that and victory it was. Race 2... @jerry...I sent you a message. I read your post race report, I wasn't the one that punted you (I'm sure you know this) but I did somewhat dive bomb you at the hairpin, and I'm pretty sure I may have shoved you offline when I slid through the corner a bit. Wasn't intentional and didn't seem to be enough to cause any damages (just a touch) but I'm sorry anyways. I was braking way later than others and got caught out by all the early braking. The dive inside you was to avoid shunting you, not because I wanted to. Anyways....Gilles got out in front and we had this big fight back and forth. I think we ran a good half lap side by side taking turns undercutting each other. It was fun, and it was aggressive at just the right level. All fair I think, and eventually Gilles made a small mistake, had to check up and onward I went. Last few laps were a bit tricky, I'd used up a lot of tire and had to be very careful...managed to do so and was happy to put race 2 in the bag P1 as well Unexpected with no practice...but like I said, luck played a big role. I doubt it'll be the same next races. See everyone at the next one, and Imma try to get back in here and participate on the forum and such more. Apologies again....just life. See you guys at the track!

Aaron- Rece 2: I was wanting to continue our duel, but I nerfed Joe into a spin as he passed me and, yes, I did wait for Joe to retake the position he'd earned by passing me, so both you and Joe were ahead when a few conrers later I lost it in hard into a wall...I packed it in with damage and not wanting to try getting out of the sand! I like these cars a lot and had setup help from Matthew and Jerry, so can't find any excuse for being slow there. I did have some fun chassing Pete for about three laps in the first race, couldn't find a way to pass and lost him after going wide in the sand. Aargh! See ya at the next one... -Tony

Bill, You did try to miss me but, unfortunately, barely clipped the LR which pushed me off track to the right and into that damn dirt. Check out the replay at 13:11.

Jerry, I am really sorry for ruining the race for you. I didn't watch the replay as I was sure there was no contact. If you got into that sand I know it cost you plenty. Going to watch the replay now. Hope we are good for the next race!
Just watch it. Looks like a broke the gentleman's rule, by not waiting. Should get a drive through or something. I am really sorry, that was certainly not intended.

Bill, Since we are both driving for Team 10 I talked with the team manager and he said your penalty will be that you owe me a beer whenever the opportunity arises.

Jerry, after thinking on you signature I had the boss install one of those Indy windscreens on my car. Just in case.

Jerry, after thinking on you signature I had the boss install one of those Indy windscreens on my car. Just in case. Bill, When I was racing in SCCA I had a "bumper sticker" that said that on the back of the open cockpit car I drove.

Cool, Did it work? What class/when. I raced BP in the 70's, finishing with two disastrous years in a F Ford. I just got too used to the security of body work. I had a Bugeyed Sprite, and a TR4 when I was in the Air Force, really wished I had those cars to race instead. They where more affordable, and there where more people in the class. Still, a great time.

Here is pic at Laguna Seca.
