Wow -- I had only a few lap's worth of practice in daylight hours, so after attempting a few laps in the dark I decided not to be a hazard, and hit 'spectate' instead. Had fun riding in car and on the front bumper with most of you guys (btw, it must be a bug or something, but when riding onboard as a spectator under dark conditions 25% of the view is blacked out, so skip that view if you're spectating!). It amazed me how strong the draft was, and yet how hard it was to complete a pass -- kind of like me trying to pass a semi with my little Celica on the expressway -- super headwind once you got alongside. I watched both Ben and Gilles take multiple laps before being able to accomplish a safe pass.
I think that I'll switch cars from here on out, staying in the amateur class, if that doesn't make the scoring more difficult. The Lola and I just don't agree, we fight each other every inch of the way, I bog it down with nearly every shift (yes, lifting and blipping), and I'm constantly correcting the steering off even minor turns. I'd rather not take out someone trying to pass me by losing it in front of him, so this seems to be the logical approach.
Congrats to all who may have survived those long straights and those quick brake slams under night conditions.
