Thanks for hosting and tracking our data Joe.
I will take this opportunity to report that Bob and I had a bad start by coming together on the banking at the end of lap 2. I was trying to stay off the wall and probably came down too much beside him. We touched with a flush glance the first time and then his car went down to the apron, got upset when touching the apron, shot up into my car and sent me tumbling towards the turn where you reenter the banking.
It was very disorienting for both us when we came to rest. We were so far past T1, I thought waiting to renter the back field on the banking would be best. The car had so much damage I would have to pit anyway. I was able to rejoin there with little drama after waiting for a late break in traffic. But I had to clear a drive through on the next lap. The car was drive-able enough, I just left it like that for the first stint. I was already at least a lap down after that. Then I started to make occasional mistakes in the tighter infield transitions. I was so far off the pace, I just fell further back. But I stayed with it to try and learn more about the car. Bottom line, I need a lot better setup and/or faster car to keep up with this crowd. More practice would help too.
Bob's race ended even sooner. He was more disoriented than I after our tango at the end of L2 and had a less favorable re-entry to the field. He exited after that. Sorry such a brief race there Bob. I am not sure how much I upset Bob's car when we contacted. Pretty close stuff trying to drive side by side on banking. I apologize if I was at fault. I was just trying to stay on the outside approaching T1 without hitting the wall. Probably over corrected. If I have another incident like that, I am not sure what to do. I was concerned about getting a wrong way DQ before realizing it by turning around and driving back to T1. Probably would have had a drive through anyway. So, maybe I did the right thing. Kudos to Joe, Jason, Gilles, Tom and whomever else still reads this and really had great pace. Maybe I'll have more time to prepare for the next race. Or, maybe I will switch cars if no one else can get the Porsche 962 into a top 5 spot Saturday.

I was wondering who that was that tangoed in front of me? I was maybe 7 car lengths back when it all went bad for you guys and somehow made it through unscathed. I think I just closed my eye and floored it. lol. My heart never did stop hammering after that.

One of the switches inside my G27 shifter picked that moment to fail, and when I went to grab 5th gear as we were approaching the start/finish, I money-shifted into 3rd. Clutched it in time to save the motor, back to 4th then tried 5th again, but by that time I was backing up into the pack and that's when the car got upset I think. It all happened so fast, and I tried to figure out what happened by watching the replay, but it was exactly as you said. I was disoriented and felt awful that I collected someone (didn't know it was you at the time... hurry up with those driver labels RF2 devs!) and when I tried to rejoin the course, I entered the infield on T7 instead of T2 and immediately got DQ'd, which was deserved and for the best. I quietly left the race and the chat after that, since it was so early in the race I didn't want to disturb concentration more than I already had! Brette, and whomever else I may have thrown off, my sincere apologies. At least it was a hardware failure, like a real race car... The irony of course is that I knew the switches in the shifter were a bit finicky, and I've repaired them once before already. I was having trouble getting reverse leading up to the race, and had ordered wires to repair the shifter. When the switch for 5th/6th/Rev finally let go, the irony is that the wires I needed to make the repair were sitting in the mailbox outside.

Though, I doubt you'd have got them installed and ready to go in time, even if you'd have noticed them in the box.?. Anyways, just wanted to note, the driver labels do work in the release candidate. It's a very simple switch and there's quite a few of us on the RC without issues right now (we've been using it in races, no issues that I've seen and it's been a while) (Just go in steam...right click rF2 in library. "Properties"...."Betas"....then switch to release candidate in the drop down box. Next time you boot rF2 it'll do a small d/l then you're set, that's it. Map button for labels and there ya have em) One note: If you DO choose to move to the RC, I'd recommend staying on it after that rather than switching back and forth. I DID see some issues when guys tried to switch back to public build...nothing track related. Profile stuff and it forces you to redo the profile wizard, yadda yadda...no reason to switch back anyways really. But, if you don't want to do that just wait and RC should become public build very soon (sometime this month, I'd imagine)
