Trans Am Golden Era

Trans Am has been around since the 60's when the muscle car wars kicked off and has been going almost every year since. While the tube frame silhouettes took over in the late 70's to 80's, many herald '68-'72 as the best years of the sport when manufacturer involvement was at an all-time high and the cars were purely American. So loved are these cars, they are still run alongside modern Trans Am racing as part of the SVRA championship.
Storm Gang Simulation has worked in partnership with International Sim Racing (www.internationalsimracing.com) to update and fine tune this amazing group of cars. Featuring the 6 most prolific makes of the day (Ford Mustang, AMC Javelin, Dodge Challenger, Chevy Camaro, Pontiac Firebird & Plymouth Barracuda), the Golden Era mod features many updates to the original ISR release including flexible suspension, an overhauled BOP, graphical updates and more. The series will replicate the 1972 season starting late October and running in parallel to the TA2 series.
The Cars:
The Mustang may be the most accessible of the six cars in the series. It's on its toes, reacts promptly to control inputs and is quite forgiving if you go over the limit. These qualities mean that you can quite productively hustle it along with a variety of driving styles. However, if you fall out of time with its preferred rhythm then you will spend more time wrestling than driving.
The Camaro has slower, weightier responses compared to the Mustang. If you place the nose where you want with authority then the rear should follow. You don't want to start to wag the tail around, once it goes it's an effort to bring everything back in line - an effort that steals time.
The Challenger needs a steady approach. Allow the weight lifting off the front end as you ease off the brakes to initiate a very stable rotation. This stability will allow you to carry speed. You need to get it right first time however as it is difficult to shift the car from its chosen trajectory. Applying power you should feel quite relaxed about allowing the rear end to step out. If everything isn't too rushed then it will come back into line without any drama. Let the Challenger do things in its own time and it should deliver go
The Javelin is possibly the most refined car in the field. As flexible as the Mustang, although rather than inviting you to push the limits this car rewards precision.
The Barracuda/Beast. This really does look and drive like the monster of the pack. It will feel like you are hefting around every pound of its immense bulk. You really have to muscle the car into the bends. But the power delivery! It's so smooth everything can be sorted with the gas pedal and calm application of opposite lock.
The Firebird is another refined racecar that rewards precision. The Pontiac is a little more demanding than the AMC though. Things are to be done in a certain way. Once you find the attitude that this car wants to take in to a turn you will be able to carry a lot of speed with little fuss.
