That was a hoot!
Even if we were down a few racers, except for the 2nd half of the first race, I was always racing with someone.
Starting the first race in third... from the second row... was alright. I first goal was to get to a pace where I could keep it on track. At the start, I kept with Joe and Jason... even putting a nose in front of Joe but it didn't stick so I was third by the third corner (Nascar Bend). At the last corner of the first lap, I ran out of asphalt but continued on driving through the field and regaining the track at the pit building. Brette and Jerry got by... cold tires... for Jason and Joe too as they both went in the dirt but just a smidgen, they both continued at speed.
Jerry let me by right away. It surprised me like WOH! What is he doing? I got by safely but my line was thrown so I again drove through the grass at 4-5. So, Lap 2, 4th. I drove away from Jerry but I wasn't getting much closer to Brette. The gentlemen was doing quick laps! I even did a 1:40.93 but it barely reduced the gap. I started to think if Brette keeps this up, at this rate, I gonna make a mistake and go off. A few laps later, it's Brette turn to go cross country and the gaps drops by half... from 4-5 sec to 2. Really running after Brette, getting to roughly a few car lengths, Brette goes around at Uphill (7) and I just had enough track to stay on it, he was fully broadside in front of me and I waited for him to clear out so I could continue. It worked out ok as we didn't even trade paint.
I stayed there for the last 5 laps. I was actually reeling in Joe, as he was having "gear selector" issues, but the checkered showed up.
For the second race, I got to start in fourth. I had reduced my fuel a bit so during the warmup lap, I was using low revs in low gears so when it came time to floor it... I was in third gear. Joe, Jason and Aaron just went by. I managed to get out of corner one in sixth and got Jason by corner four. At the end of that l first lap, Peter copied my exit of the last corner of race one and Joe's issue plagued him at the first corner of lap 2 and I was now third with Jason just behind. Jason had a better exit from the last corner so he tried to pass me on the front straight... I promptly shut the door on that maneuver.
Now on lap three, I cam out of the Snake (5a, 6 & 6a) with more speed than Brette so I went right but Brette stayed pretty much in the middle so to not lose any momentum, I put the two right wheels in the grass and continued with out lifting. I got beside him by Uphill and mad the pass there.
Now for Jerry. The gentlemen was doing serious laps too as again, it took me a few laps to pass him under braking for the Horseshoe (1). My passing Jerry slowed him down a bit and he had Brette and Jason to battle with. Jerry did good and kept his position but at three wide going into Nascar Bend (3), he ran out of asphalt and went off. Now, lap 5, I'm in first. I went for "no mistakes and no mirrors" as it was just a question of time before Jason would pass Jerry and I would have to contend with his... onslaught.
Did not take long, on that same fifth lap, I messed up the exit of the last corner and Jerry let Jason by on the front straight. Jason got a really fast exit out of the Snake so I protected my position going into Uphill, we did not have any contact at all but out of Uphill, no more Jason!?! No matter, a few laps later, Joe had manage to climb back up and was lapping a bit faster than me.
Again, a bit of wheels off exiting the last corner of lap 7 and Joe is right there. Lap 9, we're both sliding into Uphill Joe wanted some red on his yellow or something... the contact rotated both of our cars but we came out like nothing had happened !!! For the life of me, Joe kept over cooking corner one and it gave me a gap to relax just enough and get the checkered.
Pete, Jerry and Mathew also seems to have had a good run, rounding out the Horseshoe, I could see you guys running close enough.
Congrats to all finishers!
@joe, I check how Aaron blew his engine, he downshifted too quickly and sent it over 7600 which is the Engine Instant Blow Up rpm. So Joe, there is no downshift limiter, you have a problem with your downshift paddle switch.
YouTube - Logitech G29 paddle shifter issue solved@aaron, I your
.PLR file, in the fourth block. under [ DRIVING AIDS ], there is the following line:
Repeat Shifts="4" // 0 = no repeat shift detection, 1 = detect and eliminate accidental repeat shifts within 100ms, 2 = 150ms, 3 = 200ms, 4 = 250ms, 5 = prevent shifting again before previous shift is completedCheck where you're at, it might prevent future engine replacement.
Thank you all and CYA at the next one.
P. -S. I don't remember running second in an online series ?!?
