Fun races. I love some of these South American tracks, Curitiba being one of them that I really enjoy. Managed to slap together a decent setup in the hour or so before race. Hadn't stepped foot in this car since the last event and was a little worried I'd be dragging behind. Joe was flying, so quali was a blast. Race 1, I got what felt like a hell of a jump on the start. Actually thought I'd jumped it and was looking for the penalty (but before race 2 found out Joe was in 2nd gear when green lights came, so it made a bit more sense). Early gap definitely helped the nerves and then watching a few others bump around and half spin in the mirror (increasing the gap) surely didn't hurt Tried to keep it consistent, but it was clear Joe was catching me. One minute I'm 10+ seconds up on everyone and Joe is like P3-P4....next minute that gap's less than 6 seconds and I'm starting to feel the heat. It closed to uncomfortable levels, but luck was on my side and a small mistake on Joe's end distanced us again and I was able to relax and find the finish line for the win. Race 2...not so lucky. No 'nice jump' at the start to be had. Matter of fact, I sort of got swallowed up a bit. Concerned the leaders would head off into the sunset without me, I pushed a bit too hard and found that the turn 7 (I think it was) curbing is super slick when you put a few wheels on it with no power down and [possibly] a tap of the brakes. Shot me off into the grass, grazed the barrier...thought that was the end of it. Managed to keep facing the right direction and only really lost 2-3 seconds (surprisingly!)....hustled up and before long it was Joe and myself out front again. Followed him a while, assessed the situation, took the lead (car drafts like a beast! )....and then with only minutes to go I was defending down into T1, thinking "if he's going around, he's going to do it on the outside or it ain't happening".....and then I let it happen, like the amateur I am at times. Thought I was about middle of the track, but after watching the replay I realized I left FAR too much room on track left. Joe saw the opportunity, took it (nice pass!)...The heat was all over me and I tried to fight back, but I'd locked up into T1 and the car was unsettled. A little more across the curbing at T2 exit, a lead footed smash of the throttle, and around I went. Lost 2 more positions in the process....LOL...dammit! Lot of fun though....these cars are proving to provide nice, close racing. They're pretty tuning sensitive, but at the same time they are so close in terms of pace...it's evident any time one looks at the scoring sheets. Good stuff, and looking forward to the next ones! Catch you all there.

First off, congrats to Jason and Joe on their race wins!
Me, I whittled down my lap times during practice, using a setup Brette had sent to me earlier in the week, with adjustments for my wheel). Qualified a mere .008 secs in front of Tony, so knew he'd be in all my mirrors (always fun racing you, sir). Managed to survive, and in the late laps passing Bill, who had a minor off and, oh no, I'm in 6th, the final invert spot. Fortunately he passed me only a lap or two later and I was able to relax until the last lap when I passed Jerry, who had apparently run out of fuel. Damn, in 6th again....
So I had to lead the pack to the green, Jason telling me the speed I needed to keep was 60 mph, and since I've been running with metric measurements (trying to teach myself by doing rather than memorizing conversions) I had to pace myself with the pace car. Green, and I got my usual lousy start and was swallowed up long before t1 by 3-4 guys, raced Gilles through the first turns (bet I scared you a couple of times there, Gilles -- but thanks for the room). I surrendered that position when it was convenient, as a return courtesy, and Joe passed me the following lap. After that, it was survival, with Tony keeping me honest. I went from 1st to 7th in only 20 minutes, which has GOT to be a record without wrecking! :-)
Love this mod, and don't understand why more (especially back half of the field guys) don't run with us. For any of you who think 'why bother, the season has already started' hey, you could easily catch me, Tony, or Charlie in the standings, and you'd have a hell of a good time accomplishing it! (sermon over)
