Congrats to Joe and Janes for your respective wins, and to Peter for your two seniors' wins.
In race one, I got lucky during the mayhem that occurred after T2, L1 because the sea parted, and I just drove though :-) I paid the racing gods back by blowing the motor to smithereens a few laps later. But because of this I got to watch a great race between Peter and Gilles -- man you guys had it going!
For race two, I decided to give myself a chance to race beyond a handful of laps. I saw mayhem again in the same spot on the track as the previous race...I had to watch the replay to remind myself how I got around Tony. See, he was staying in the thick of things, staying on the track as people (including me) tore up turf or bumped or got bumped. Some really heads-up driving on his part, and he surely was surprised when he saw me get by on his right. Why, he EARNED that spot -- grin. And for the next 80-90% of the race he stuck to me, daring me to make one little error. Then we caught up with Luis, and it became a very fun 3-way contest, which lasted until there was only a handful of laps to go, when Luis had a minor spin, letting me, and Bob by -- Bob? How'd he get there? Darned if I knew. But he was faster than I was, so all I could do was take a defensive line for the last laps (hope I didn't block you, Bob). We finished with him right on my bumper. Guys, that was good fun -- thanks!
This is going to be a fun season in these cars that demand self-control, no doubt about it.

Thanks Aaron, I really enjoyed the races. The first race was easier than the second race. Being out font for the start made my job that much easier. Janes was really putting the pressure on me and I managed to not make mistakes and hold him off. For the second race I got caught up in the melee after turn one and Janes got away. Later I also followed Gilles off the track on turn 12 and let Jason Get by (monkey see monkey do). Congrats to Janes on the win, great job. Also to Pete who was holding his own against Jason and I for a good long time before we got by. Looking forward to the next race.

What a hoot! Man that was fun. Conrats to podium, well deserved. Yes these cars take a lot of self control. Had some great wheel to wheel action with Gilles. One lap left and I went a bit wide in turn 2 and he scooped me, I couldn't make my car wide enough. Way to keep the pressure on Gilles . Aaron, how did you blow your engine? I was revving the snot out of my engine in second gear the whole race, it held together. (who's your engine builder? LOL) I tried to get a couple of buddies (seniors) to build up the field but they jammed out, hopefully we will keep 10 to 12 cars through the season. Looking forward to many battles. I'm going to try and get Discord working, I'll mess around with it before the next race. I'm not sure what's going to happen with my PC since there is no support for windows 7 anymore, guess I will have to shop around for a new machine, so far things seem to be working fine. Cheers, Pete

Congrats to all for clean racing and especially to those on the podium. Being my first race with you guys, I tried to keep my "moving chicane" out of everyone's way. I kept my eyes on my mirrors and paid attention to my blue flags, so I hope I didn't cause problems for anyone. I hope to improve my overall performance with this car, but I find it to be a real handful.
Although I officially DNF'd both races, Race 1 was a dumb mistake on my part. I saw that the race counter was down to zero time remaining, so I thought that when I crossed the s/f line (very shortly thereafter) that was the end (even though I saw no checkered flag). I guess that the race doesn't end until the LEADER crosses the s/f line after 20 minutes......Lesson learned (I hope). Made no difference in my final position though, so no harm done. In Race 2, I just got frustrated after spinning out 2 or 3 times (early), so I packed it in.
Thanks for letting me join you guys, Bert

Welcome to the league. Here are the rules regarding blue flags. It is best to stay on the racing line and let the faster car find its way past. Help in a place that's comfortable. The pertinent rules are below:
How To Comply To Flags 3. Blue flags are to inform drivers they are about to be lapped and depending on their own racing they should allow the pass to be made within a 4-corner stretch of the lap. At certain circuits a sequence of corners may be counted as one for the purpose of this rule.
4. A blue-flagged driver is not allowed to defend his track position against the lapping car and should stay on his/her line.
The CMS General Racing Rules are here:

Oh I'm well aware of the Blue Flag rules, Jerry. I hate to admit it but I have plenty experience with blue flags. Unfortunately, the car and I were not getting along well, so I got the blue flag warning A LOT. I don't THINK that my actions in those instances caused any problems on Tuesday - at least I hope not. If they did, I apologize and am open to discussion on any specific instances so that I do better next time. Bert

And we received no IRRs regarding such, so you're good to go. Jerry's probably the hardest guy out there to overlap (just being honest ) but he rarely if ever does anything wrong. Actually, he does it 100% correctly and will give space and/or lift when able to allow those lapping him by. He rarely compromises his own race for cars lapping him (lap cars are not required to simply move out the way just because)...if faster cars can catch you to lap you, they will find a way around. Can't speak for others, and I certainly didn't watch your driving just to check, but I think he was more or less pointing out what I'm saying here - Hold your lines, be predictable, own your piece of track, facilitate the passes when/where you can and drive your own race when you can't. Sure, it can be frustrating for those trying to hustle on around you...but that's just racing and the way it is. Hey, at least you didn't wreck yourself in front of the whole field, lap 1 first turns like a certain somebody here. I even managed to ruin Race 1 for another in that incident. Talk about embarrassing! ETA: Oh, and about the timer and race being over. In time races, in AMS, it is the time (in this case 20 mins) +1 lap. So when leader crosses the line after the timer has ran out, that is when white flag is given. For others, depending on track position at the time this happens, that can equate almost 2 full laps at times. Rule of thumb, never stop until the checkered is displayed (upper left of screen, you should get a checkered flag symbol when you cross s/f at the end of race)

Congrats to Joe and Janes for their great pace finishes in our first Camaro SS race. It seems like if your name started with a J or a G, you had good pace. Even more if your first and last name starts with a J (good job Janes Junior). I was going to say the opposite if your name starts with a B. But Bob did pretty good and Bruno showed some promise in the first race. Not so much for old GPL drivers like Bert and myself. But, I am sure we will all get better in this car. Cudos to Peter for an outstanding first showing. As far as my experience goes, I had problems just keeping the car on the asphalt. It seemed just looking at the gas pedal caused the car to dart for the nearest armco. Sorry if I got in anyone's way. That might be a coincidence since I spent probably 20% of my time trying to just get back to my pit stall and waiting for them to repair the easily damaged suspension. You would think the pace car would be more robust. But the sheer mass of the car and size of the wheels may make it more vulnerable (in some ways) than some purpose built racers we drive. After talking with some better finishers in Discord, I went back and double checked my steering ratio setting. It turns out that it was still manually set to another car in another sim I was driving, although I thought I had set it back before the race. So, I did do some post race testing at Barber to see if I could at least keep the car under control with proper steering settings. Low and behold I could keep it on the asphalt unless pushing too much and got into the low 1:43s without a lot of effort. So lookout, I will put this overgrown LIME in the Coconut and mix it all up... with you guys...at the next Camaro race. See you then!

Congrats to Joe and Janes, Bert, from my seat too you were all good. First race, slow on the start and after Jason went around, I settled in 4th, concentrating on my brake references and my apexes. Just a clean flowing drive where I only once got out of shape and put two wheels off exiting the fast chicane. I ended up matching pace with peter's for 10 laps, then, with less than 3 minutes to go, I woke up and open it up. Got close to Peter and after a few laps of responding to my faster pace, he braked a bit too deep at the 5-6 hairpin and took his 3rd spot. Last few laps at the previous pace and got to finish on the podium. What I wanted. For the second race, it was possible to repeat the feat. Start of the 2nd, I passed Jerry on entry to corner one so I went for the apex and lo and behold, Bruno had done the same... I never saw him... so "there was someone there!". The impact pointed the car toward the outside so I went off in the grass but I was able to keep it under control and get back on the black stuff before corner two. "There was someone there... too!". Sorry for that Jerry, it was an unsafe reentry. So a few positions down I reverted to over drive the car and a few corners later, corner 12, the lefthander that dips down before climbing right in the last sector, I lost the rear and did a bunch of 360s, tire smoke and dust everywhere, to Joe's enjoyment as it all happened in front of him. After that, I just took it cool like the race before and by mostly driving alone, I got back to 5th. Ok for a first event. So 3rd in the series, equal in points with Peter, Jason behind but Janes in front... It looks good! Now if Brette and Bruno can get off their dampers , it will be nuts! Again thank you Joe and Jason for running all off this.

Congrats to the winners. For me both races were OK, considering I started practicing only 4 hours before the races. The major mistakes were in race 2, where I went off track near the finish (dripping some places) a having pressed ESC key with one lap to go thinking that race was over. But as in 7 months and 15 days I will appear on seniors chart...

We don't actually race again until next Tuesday Feb. 11th at VIR. A rare (but sometimes useful) two week gap between races. But, if your PC upgrades will be done before Feb. 11th, you won't miss any races! Hope you can make it to VIR.
